How many ways can you wear a cowgirl hat?
Carries birthday is monday and she wanted to dress up for the pictures I wanted her to look nice in. The hat was her pick, so we dressed it up.
* Post Update: This photo was on the original post, I just didn't like the editing on it but it was a little too dark. I followed Two of us1's advise on fixing it and below is the result. I love it. Christy, you are my new best friend! heehee.

She got so cold in the 20 minutes we were outside in the 45* weather that she decided to wear it all at the same time.
This is the hodge podge group that walked the trails and tried to butt in on some of the pictures. Poor Grace looks like she doesn't have anything decent to wear, PJ pants under the dress? I yiyiyi!
We are dog sitting this weekend, these pomapoos are sold but not quite ready to go to their new homes yet. They are just as cute as can be, the kids were having a ball for the first few hours. After about the third accident that Carrie cleaned up she decided it's a good thing these are going back tomorrow:).

I love the hat...well I love almost any hat :) I think my favorite shot is the 7th from the top.
Those puppies are the most adorable things!
Carrie is such a cutie...love those blue eyes! You make taking quality photos seem like such a breeze...I enjoy all the beauty that you capture, including those in your last post with the colored leaves. My sight is a sense that I value highly; thank you for sharing your talent!
Carrie is adorable, hat and all, adorable pics also!
you just can't go wrong with a good cowboy girl hat
I have at least 4 now.they are all wonderful-you make it look so easy!Great pictures of both girl and dogs. Both would make some really good postcards or calendar pictures. You have such a talent. Continue the good work and continue letting us see your good work.

@undershepherd - Awww thanks, I love documenting the kids growth in pictures and I love looking back over the years. I guess I hadn't thought about the calendar route, I am doing the church calendar does that count?:)
I like #7!
(If you increase saturation, be sure to erase it from skin to allow it to appear natural. In #5 the skin looks way too red.)
@twofus_1 - Thanks for the tip. I get to editing and after a while they all kinda look the same. I did the shadows / highlights adjustment on that one because it was just a little too shadowed from the hat and I think that threw off the color as well. Is there a better way to fix shadows (other than using flash / reflectors and avoiding too much shadow to start with).
Cute pics.would love to sit down and chat to get to know more of the dos and dont's of photography as I'm a self learner:)I still haven't figured out how to not have a pic to not look fuzzy on computer even though it looks crystal clear printed out on paper. It's almost as if the picture file is to big for the blog and scrunched together.
@yodertime - I don't like the shadows/highlight adjust because it almost always ends up looking fake to me.
Here's what I'm doing right now. This is from memory, so I hope I remember each step.
ctrl j
click on new layer
color curves>brighten midtones (can't remember the whole sequence; let me know if you don't know where this is.)
Ctrl + click the blank layer icon (puts blank layer under copy)
Click on top layer
ctrl g (groups two layers together, so you can no longer see the effect.
b (for brush)
make sure foreground color is black. Adjust brush opacity as needed.
Select blank layer,
Paint in the shadow areas using a higher opacity for darker areas. What you're doing is painting in that brightness you brought in than hid.
Flatten.
@graceful_mom - I am a self learner for the most part, now and then I get great tips like two of us 1 is giving me today:) Do you resize your photos before you upload them? I usually make them smaller by about 75% or so, don't know if that will help or not.
@twofus_1 - Thank you, thank you! I paid for an editing class that taught me the shadows / highlights trick and I don't like it. What's your address so I know where to send the tuition
.
Ok so now your going to have to help me out on the resizing:)My pic files on my computer are so huge and slows everything way down and my patience wears so thin. It's something I've never checked out.I suppose thats something you can do without losing clarity of the photo?I think I'm gonna copy down twofus tip because I'm pretty sure that's something I'll never figure out on my own:)I like to do as little photoshopping as I have to to keep things as natural as I can.carol
Very cute pictures! Absolutely love #7!!
You can make your picture smaller by going to image size. 1500 on the largest side is fine for most prints, 800 is good for internet use. I don't know a whole lot about this stuf either... hope this helps.
@twofus_1 - Ok, Christy, I re-edited the picture using your method and I love, love, love it. I posted it right after the first one, check out the diference. Wow.
Much improved!!!
These are some beautiful pics of your daughter!! What program do you use for editing??
@floridabreze - Photoshop Elements 7 can be downloaded for about $30 and is a great editting program. I also have an older version of Photoshop CS that I like.
