  • Our house

    IMG_0022

Following the example of several other xangans who recently posted pics of their kitchens I decided to put mine up for examination. I thought it was decent until I looked at the picture, there are oh, I don't know, maybe 2 things I like about the whole thing! The Bunn coffee maker and the Bosch Universal mixer. Haha. I have been contemplating redoing the kitchen for a looong time and keep putting it off because I am lazy uncertain as to what I could do with this place.

The house is a double wide trailer that was wrecked in transit and we bought it from the insurance co. for super cheap about 9 years ago. "You get what you pay for" applies well here. The flooring, trim, cabinets and windows are about as cheap as they can get without being cardboard. Wait, maybe there is some cardboard involved here. Anyway, not to sound ungrateful, I do enjoy living in a cheap house when it comes to payments on the place.

The walls in the kitchen are vinyl printed wallboard circa 1999. Hunter, burgundy and navy, cute. I am thinking cream walls and leaving the cabinets oak because i cannot bring myself to paint those things. Taking off doors and drawers, hinges, pulls all that? No thank you, I'd rather move. I am fine with moving the hideous mess off the top of  the fridge, I yiyi!

Ok, moving on too the diningroom, yes wallpaper, no I don't know why I did that. I need to paint the brown shelf thingy  first thing, that's why those shelves are so bare, awaiting paint they are. The question of what color is still up in the air so any recs on that would be appreciated.

the livingroom was painted sandstone and red a few years ago, until the hunter green carpet meoves out this is about all this room is getting at the moment.

Girls bedroom was painted last winter, they are into ppurple right now, with all the writing Essie does on the other walls in the house I am surprised to see that these have been spared thus far.

Boys room was painted few years back with somme cans of misc paint poured together. I still have about 3 gallons of this stuff if anyone wants it. It's going on Freecycle shortly, I am tired of it hogging shelf space in the garage:).

Corbans bed is americana style, the firtruck picture kinda sorta fits in, the crown molding is in the garage. I am on the ball in this room:).

And last but not least is the master bedroom, I painted the  walls kinda like tthe boys room and it just didn't work for me so when I was in Walmart I was scoping out the paint section and this sandstone color was on the missmatched shelf for a whole $7. I snatched it up, repainted and love it.

The brown I painted first kept looking purplish in some light, Essie called it purple from day one and nomatter how many times I said 'brown' she said purple. Arggg. As soon as this new sandstone paint was on, i realized she was right the whole time. Who am I to argue with a 2 year old? So a new quart of "sweet brown eyes" fixed that. Shehasn't said anything about the wall since.

I have white crown molding for in here, the furniture and headboard are in the process of being painted white. I need a valance or shade for the window, so I am cruising the internet for ideas on that.

Well I forgot the bathrooms but this gives you an idea of where i live, share some ppics of your abode?

  • Weddings, work and wondering

    IMG_8965

Carson was my tag along for half the day saturday till i finally gave up and took him to my sisters house to play. Seems that taking pictures is so much easier without his kind of help. Maybe in 5 years I'll reconsider his offer. He really did pretty decent for a 1 year old, we were doing some pictures outside in an alley uptown and he just sat in this doorway like a good boy. I was glad to be the 'candid' photographer only, Studio 331 did the wedding photography and they sure worked hard. Can't wait to see what their pictures look like.

Essie was a little bit better, she hung out at the church and played with the stuffed dog she found in the toy box there. Carrie, Grace and Corban did a great job looking after her for me. Leon and I were helping with the food as well, so the kids felt pretty free as we were a little preoccupied and they kinda had the run of the place.

I'll post one shot of Jeremy and Britt here. More on my facebook page iSPYphotography.

Don't know who brought a cycle to the wedding but Essie thought it was great fun.

Today was a day of kind of recupperating from the wedding, playing catch up on laundry and getting the week going. I am going to Cincinnati on wednesday all day with Leon. He is taking a class on webdesign and I will be free to cruise through malls and bookstores and just relax with no kids. Can't wait.

  • How many ways can you wear a cowgirl hat?

    IMG_9319.jpg

Carries birthday is monday and she wanted to dress up for the pictures I wanted her to look nice in. The hat was her pick, so we dressed it up.

     * Post Update: This photo was on the original post, I just didn't like the editing on it but it was a little too dark. I followed Two of us1's advise on fixing it and below is the result. I love it. Christy, you are my new best friend! heehee.

She got so cold in the 20 minutes we were outside in the 45* weather that she decided to wear it all at the same time.

This is the hodge podge group that walked the trails and tried to butt in on some of the pictures. Poor Grace looks like she doesn't have anything decent to wear, PJ pants under the dress? I yiyiyi!

We are dog sitting this weekend, these pomapoos are sold but not quite ready to go to their new homes yet. They are just as cute as can be, the kids were having a ball for the first few hours. After about the third accident that Carrie cleaned up she decided it's a good thing these are going back tomorrow:).

  • Life with children = no boredom

I recall from time to time as a child complaining of being bored. Not usually for real long because Mom had many quick fixes at hand for that problem. Dishes to wash, toys to pick up and floors to sweep. I don't think I've had a single boring moment in the past 9 years that I've been a mother. I call it blessed quiet now.

I have been needing laundry soap, diapers, dish soap.... oooops, that reminds me that I forgot the dishwasher detergent tonight, for about a week and I've been putting off the trip. Waiting for a time I can go with the least amount of helpers, or maybe just maybe even alone! Well, I waited so long that I finally just had to go tonight, the one night this week that Leon is otherwise engaged, so I took all 5 to Goodwill for a quick look around. We found some cute colorful scarves to add to the huge pile we already have, that way I guess if a few get lost our necks stay warm.

The girls had pizza coupons from book-it, so I got an extra one for the rest of us, then we headed to Walmart. The 2 oldest took turns pushing the cart, the babies sat in there fairly quietly and other than a squabble now and then we had a decent shopping trip.

On the way to town I stopped for a quick picture of this old barn I see all the time and just hadn't taken the time to shoot it before.

Time to get the kiddos to bed, then I can settle in for a hot cup of tea or coffee and just soak up the quiet (not getting bored) for a while.
